It's been a mantra this holiday season to support the small businesses. With the pandemic really hitting hard we need to stand by and help, even if it means the purchase is small. I want to share with you some local businesses from who I know. Some are friends and some are people who I have met through the virtual world. I have had a few different small business and it means the world when those orders come through. So here it is 5 small businesses to get you ready for this holiday season.

I first found this amazing local business at Little Modern Market. A local Calgary market of handmade goods. They make scrunchies, headbands, and just recently launched their Little Ivy shop for your littles. Once I started buying from them, I realized they lived in the same community as me (which was even better). I've now been supporting this amazing duo of mommas for the last 8 months. This is the perfect gift for a teacher, you're bestie or a great stocking stuffer. These ladies ship or offer local pickup. If you would like to save 10% on your purchase use code JESSICA10 at checkout. You won't be disappointed! The quality is amazing and the girls put their extra special touch on each order. Follow Your Rainbow. Another local momma and member of my community wrote this amazing children's book. I met Lisa via the virtual world and she is one of the sweetest humans EVER! Her book is about self awareness and connection. I purchased it for my kids and it is a staple in our home. This book is a must under the Christmas tree or to add to your Christmas Eve box for your children. 10% of all book sales goes to Calgary reads! Plus how cute are those stickers!! I met Christina over a year ago at the local gym. She was always so warm and welcoming and I felt we really connected. In one of our conversations I found out that she makes her own candles. While I was at one of the local markets I stumbled on her table and had to have one. I quickly ran home to put it on my kitchen counter and it smelled amazing, and burned forever ( what you want in a candle right?). Christina's candles are made from a natural soy wax, and are hand poured. An absolute must for the home this season with her beautiful holiday scents. I have been friends with the owners of Prairie West Meats for years. Our kids play together and they are the sweetest people. Salt of the earth as we say back home. They have the best locally sourced meats from all our Alberta farmers. From steaks to chicken wings and everything in between they have you covered. Also if your looking to up your charcuterie game this season, they have the perfect cured meats to line your board. And don't forget the turkey and bacon for Christmas Day. You can view their Instagram page here and orders can be placed at order@cfoods.ca full website coming soon.

I met Stephanie 2 years ago when we were fellow GoodLife employees. With being a busy mom of two I found out she also had a photography business. Once I saw the work she did I had to have her take our family photos. Stephanie specializes in maternity photos but can do any type of photo you need. This Christmas for $25 she is offering Christmas digital prints, with $10 being donated to CTV Calgary's Toy Mountain.

I met Kayla through her sister who is one of my good friends. She is busy raising 2 kiddos while also sharing local eco friendly products. She has some amazing items to make your footprint just a little smaller. From reusable paper towels with the cutest prints, to the perfect on the go coffee cup. Her online shop has tons to offer. You can find her website by clicking here, and local Calgary pickup is also available!
Supporting local means supporting you're friends new and old, and connecting with your community. So share some love this holiday season. Love Jessica
